Our Approach

Chiropractic care is beneficial to all age groups. Infants, children, and adults alike can get great results with this approach to healthcare. Chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue techniques, active rehabilitation, and nutrition advice are utilized to reach the end goal of a patient's outlined care plan. When warranted, co-care between different branches of the healthcare profession is gladly pursued.

Patient centered care is the primary goal at The Core, and this requires teamwork between the doctor and patient, and at times doctors with other specialties. We are glad to explore your needs and work out a balanced approach for you.

Chiropractic adjustments are used to improve joint mobility throughout the body, relax the surrounding soft tissues, and relieve pain and dysfunction. Dr. Newsom is a certified Motion Palpation Institute (MPI) practitioner and primarily utilizes this evidence-based style of adjustment with her patients.

Dr. Newsom is a Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) certified practitioner. She knows that functional rehabilitation training is necessary to get to the root cause of an injury or complaint. In office and home exercises will be individually tailored to each patient, after Dr. Newsom sits down and talks with the patient about her exam findings and the patient's individual goals. These exercises will help reduce the symptoms of the complaint that brought the patient into the office, as well as correct the weaknesses/imbalances that contributed to the injury. The goal of treatment at The Core is to get you feeling better and living your life, while also minimizing your future risk of injuries.

Dr. Newsom utilizes a clinically proven soft tissue technique that breaks up adhesions or scar tissue in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. This ultimately allows for better blood flow (delivering oxygen) to the damaged tissues to encourage more efficiency in the healing process. This type of technique is beneficial for sprains, shin splints, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, plantar fasciitis, back and extremity complaints, and much more.

While being free from pain is a great goal to have, that really only touches the tip of the ice berg when it comes to a complaint or dysfunction. Pain is the red flag that the body flies when it can no longer compensate for or deal with an injury or deeper problem. When assessing her patients, Dr. Newsom studies movement patterns and areas of imbalance in the body. Through these screens, Dr. Newsom can determine where muscle weaknesses and movement inefficiencies are to better care for and work with her patients to get to the root cause of their complaint. At The Core, the goal is to not only get you out of pain, but to allow you to function better and avoid future injuries.
